I am proud to announce my latest “french bob” with bangs was featured online November 29th along with an interview. I am highlighting this in my Blog post this month because it describes perfectly how to style waves that look undone and make bangs wearable. I will go over my favorite things about the look, how to maintain it and recreate it, and what clients I recommend wear the look. You can see the article on the Latest Hairstyle’s website posted here. http://www.latest-hairstyles.com/bobs/bangs.html#33 “Who doesn’t love a bob haircut? Long, short, layered, textured — there is literally a beautiful bob out there for every face shape and hair type. Add a sweet set of bangs to the mix, and you’ve got one hot look! If you are looking for a fab new haircut, here are some sultry bobs with bangs to get you inspired."
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
My nickname for the haircut is “french bob” and I would describe the look as timeless. The haircut is a blunt bob that flips slightly out (only adding layers with thinning shears) with long straight bangs that get slightly longer toward the sides. I styled “undone” looking waves using a curling iron. My favorite thing about the look is the bluntness of the cut mixed with undone waves. It is just so cute! I like that many people with different hair textures…straight, wavy or even curly for the daring, can wear this cut. I was deeply inspired by Margot Robbie’s bob in the recently released British historical drama film called Goodbye Christopher Robin.
2. What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look? To maintain this look you definitely need Evo Water Killer dry shampoo and a hair spray that is moveable like This is a Medium Hairspray by Davines. The prep is everything. For this look, I put a heat protectant like Hair Assistant Blow Dry Prep or Oi All in One MILK leave-in by Davines when slightly damp. I spray about 8-10 sprays in. I style the bangs by combing them back and forth, left to right until fully dry. Either air dry (if you have slightly wavy hair) or hand dry the rest of the hair with your hands and finish with a brush for smoothness. To roughen up the texture, I spray in Evo Dry shampoo at the roots and slightly all over. I curl all the hair back with a 1 1’4” iron. I then take random tiny sections and curl them forward to get the undone look. Let all the hair cool. Curl each side of the bangs under and slightly back to get that Zoey Deschanel look. Spray the entire head with Medium Hold Hairspray by Davines. Separate the curls by roughening the edges between your fingertips. If there is any frizz, take the MILK and spray a little in hands and scrunch over the hair.
3. What type of client would you recommend this look for?
A girl that loves to get noticed for her style. My clients love to make trendy items wearable, or take a classic shape and turn it into something not boring. This haircut fits that description. Ideal for Medium density and slightly wavy hair texture. Great for hair that can hold a curl or can be smoothed easily. This is great for a girl that has natural waves but doesn’t know how to wear it. Or a girl with less volume on top and you want to make your look more symmetrical by adding bangs.
